This is another painting from years back (2010). It’s of a very familiar view nearby and this painting is about to make it’s way to California to remind the owner of years spent living here. It’s been hanging for a while above my staircase; there’s a blank space there now…but not for long! My daughter has graduated from an illustration course, and I’ll be putting a large colourful screen print of hers there instead.

One more for you to see before June is out…this belongs to my sister and is a local area that comes up in a number of my paintings.

Oh boy, it’s been a long long while since I uploaded anything! After all that grey and brown winter, Spring is here, and before I know it this is what the old Roman route down to the river will look like. Mud and more mud at the moment, but it won’t take long to green up. This is another painting from a few years back while I’m busy producing new artwork.
Oil over acrylic on canvas, 76 x 61cm, 2010
Not at all what the river is looking like at the moment! The river has spilled over into the field turning it into a lake, and is nearly over the top of the bridge; the sheep are definitely not grazing. This though is a favourite spot, peaceful and empty of visitors a lot of the time, but in better weather sometimes a busy-ish junction for walkers, dog-walkers, kids (and dogs) paddling, picnickers, a horse now and then, cyclists. And the occasional artist.

I’ve included a bunch of things that mean Stonesfield to me. The first fossil identified as a dinosaur – was found in my village of Stonesfield, so I’ve painted that in too. Time-consuming to get all the elements to fit together, but fun.
